Done over a few days this took at least 6hours...i think; hard to tell as i wasn't strictly timing myself and it's even harder to guess when it's over a few days. Photoshop CS with Wacom Bamboo
More experimenting with Golden Section composition and lighting as well as trying to pin down a better dragon-scale effect other than the 'wishy-washy' less defined example in [link]
I can't seem to help but go for an almost monochromatic, sepia-ish look when I'm experimenting. Not sure I like it though I can't for the life of me think how or where to inject some colour into it or indeed whether or not it needs it /shrug
This was partly inspired by a print I got in "PCZONE" magazine of a game; think it's called "Prologue: STALKER, clear sky" by Deep Silver (?). Not sure on the details but the sky and lighting of it was inspiring.
Some textures from IFX magazine ([link]) and my own stock.
aaah, canyon wall on the right hand side is done using photos I took in Norway(they haff lions!...just statues) for texture. Not sure which foregorund rock you meant 'lateau bit' or 'little pokey rock' but those were IFX textures. Lots of painting went over the top of the textures mind you.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
When it comes to community spirit, `Rushy is a shining example.
