Garak: It's ironic ... when the Klingons attacked the station, Gul Dukat and I were fighting side by side. At one point, he turned his back to me, and I must admit, he made a very tempting target.
Odo: You'd shoot a man in the back?
Garak: It's the safest way, isn't it? But then I thought, well, no, I can't fight these Klingons all by myself, so I let him live.
Odo: And now you regret it.
Garak: Ah, my dear Constable ... before this day is over, everyone on this station is going to regret it.
Star Trek DS9: "A Call To Arms"

Cardassians are my favourite Star Trek race and Garak and Dukat are two of my favourite characters from my favourite series (Deep Space Nine).
I've continued watching lots of DS9 and even after my other deviation [link] I couldn't help but want to draw more fanart.
I knew I wanted to draw Cardassians (well duh) but it was pretty hard deciding who, but then I thought what the hey and did two. It was only the niggling fear of all those scales and coming up with a suitable situation to fit in Damar that kept him out. It seemed appropriate to try and recapture the scene where Dukat and Garak fight side by side for once against the Klingons; that and ones of the episode I watched recently was "Call To Arms" and the above quote stuck in my head.

So, here is they are in that brief moment when Garak could have changed everything.

No idea what sort of guns they were actually using in the scene as I couldn't find a screen-cap for reference so I used my imagination, makes sense to me they would use federation guns on a federation space station (yes I know it's Cardassian built).

I remember that episode :) I always liked Garak, the best fictional tailor I've ever seen.

I loved that "It's the safest way" line. And I loved seeing Ducat....Til they neutered him....
At wise, uh, wow, just, wow. Incredibly true-to-screen. Congrats.

Thanks so much ^-^
Garak has some of the best lines...ever; and Dukat, well, they did so much with/to him, probably the most development of a villain I've seen in a Star Trek series though my knowledge of the other shows isn't as good as DS9 =D

yeah, they were good too =D the episode where they get stranded and have to climb the mountain is brilliant, the bickering is what makes it
